With their sometimes laid back and psychedelic sound to their more edgy and driving tracks, San Diego's Secret Lynx show a duality that lies at the heart of the quartets first self-titled EP. Tracks like Bones and Window Falls are filled with lush synthesizers and layers of delayed guitars, creating a musical atmosphere somewhere between the Alan Parsons Project and Blue Oyster Cult. Meanwhile, songs like Bitter Haul and Shelter add a welcomed energy to the album. A tasteful use of distorted guitars and a post punk ethos shines through, offering a feel reminicent of bands like The Church and The Police.
Founded by Ronnie Dudek, best known for his work with the indie rock band, Years Around the Sun, Secret Lynx expands on the groups appreciation for San Diego bands like Rocket from the Crypt, Boilermaker, and Three Mile Pilot, while nodding to classic post punk of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Recorded throughout 2015 at Singing Serpent with Ben Moore, their first EP was released on December 11, 2015. An upbeat moodiness plays along with Dudek's soaring vocal resulting in a sound that is distinctly San Diego.
Secret Lynx is currently working on a new EP to be released in Fall 2018.
